Dates set for BUG 2003!

December 6, 2002

March 15,16 and 17th have been selected as the dates for the 2003 BUG conference in Phoenix. The other Mailroom user groups are later in the year and will not interfere. Saturday, Sunday and Monday were chosen to hopefully present the stronger argument for attendance since you are out of the office less time than a weekday conference.

An agenda is being put together, and we are looking for presenters to showcase your operation and share with the group.  Please step forward if you would like to help enhance the knowledge of the group.  We will have an agenda out within two weeks.  If there is a specific topic that you would like to see presented, please let us know, and we'll make every attempt to accommodate.

Hotel rates will be as follows: $89 per night plus tax. The link to the hotel is: http://www.sixcontinentshotels.com/h/d/cp/hd/phxmc   You will be responsible for your own reservations at the hotel.

Conference registration will be $125.  Included will be your continental  breakfasts, break refreshments and lunches for the three days. Dinner Saturday will be a hay wagon ride sponsored by Burt at Rawhide, a western town, north of Phoenix.  Bob Kotwasinski, VP of Production will host the Arizona Republic sponsored dinner Sunday at the R&G Ranch. Friday and Monday Dinner will be on your own. Conference activities will formally start Saturday morning.

Other activities are available outside of the conference; please contact Norm or me, and we can help with directions and suggestions.

We need a head-count as soon as possible to secure rooms.  We will reserve a block of rooms based on the response from this and the previous note. Please respond to this note if you plan to attend.  We are looking for a firm commitment at this time.  Please respond to Lynda Muller at: lynda.muller@pni.com

Remember, the conference can only be as good as the members make it. Money is tight for everyone, but hopefully you can present a case about the potential gains you get from conference attendance.

Make your plans now to attend the 2003 BUG conference!!

Denver Newspaper Agency Goes e-BURT

Critical server failure mandates switch-over

September 13, 2002

A critical server failure experienced by the Denver Newspaper Agency caused them to turn to e-BURT, the ASP version of the BURT System, offered by Burt Technologies, Inc.

According to Paul Gledhill, Vice President of Operations for the Agency, “The Denver Newspaper Agency is deeply indebted to Burt for their assistance in helping us recover from a server meltdown.  Burt was able to switch our critical clients to the e-BURT server, maintained at their co-location facility, with all our data in less than 24 hours.  We hardly missed a beat with our inserting, distribution and staffing modules deployed here at the Agency and this is all due to the diligent efforts of the Burt support staff.”

According to Rich Burt, CEO of Burt, “Early on, Denver realized the value of our Disaster Recovery (DR) option which allowed their application data to be warehoused off-site at a state-of-the-art co-location facility.  DR e-BURT, powered by Citrix technology, provides them with a secure back-up for invaluable data and allows for periodic updates to application data.  When their server went down and it became apparent that their backups weren’t good, we made their data accessible online by connecting to the e-BURT servers.”

e-BURT is designed to transition users from the client/server environment to the Web server environment without the need for costly and timely re-development and  deployment.

This reduces the need for hardware and tech support from Burt and removes the need for information technology administration.  e-BURT heightens client security and decreases liability.  Deployment of the system and upgrades to the system are instantaneous and customer support is offered twenty-four hours per day.

Burt Technologies, Inc, based in Evergreen, Colorado, is a software solutions company fulfilling the needs of the vertical marketplace in the packaging and distribution industry. The Company has more than 45 clients across the United States and Canada using its proven software management system.

For more information contact Jim Burt, Vice President at 303.674.3232 or sales@mail.e-burt.com.

BURT Makes Valuable Software Available to Everyone

June 8, 2001

EVERGREEN, COLORADO – Burt Technologies, Inc., the leading packaging and direct mail insertion software company, announces the release of e-BURT, the Application Service Provider (ASP) versions of their existing software products.

e-BURT represents an innovative evolution of the BURT System, being administered from a server via an online interface to provide a universal platform that promotes affordability.  The ASP version is designed to increase the size of the Company’s target market and to fulfill the needs of lesser circulation publications.

Prior to its release, many publications could not reap the benefits of a legitimate packaging and distribution management software solution, cost being the primary deterrent. By bringing Burt’s proven technology solutions into an ASP version, they can decrease overhead costs and pass those savings and the resource on to a whole new market segment.

e-BURT is designed to transition users from the client/server environment to the Web server environment without the need for costly and timely re-development and  deployment.

This reduces the need for hardware and tech support from Burt and removes the need for information technology administration. e-BURT heightens client security and decreases liability.  Deployment of the system and upgrades to the system are instantaneous and customer support is offered twenty-four hours per day.

In conjunction with the release of e-BURT, the Company is also announcing the release of DR e-BURT.  The Disaster Recovery (DR) option allows application data to be warehoused off-site at a state-of-the-art co-location facility.  DR e-BURT provides users with a secure back-up for invaluable data and allows for periodic updates to application data.  If  an on-site server were to go down, the information would still be accessible online by connecting to DR e-BURT.

Burt Technologies, Inc, based in Evergreen, Colorado, is a software solutions company fulfilling the needs of the vertical marketplace in the packaging and distribution industry. The Company has more than 41 clients across the United States and Canada using its proven software management system, and is launching new products to reach fertile and untouched market segments.
